About me
Hello and welcome!
I’m Colin Blokkeel, a software engineer captivated by crafting intuitive, user-first experiences and architecting robust back-end systems, scalable distributed infrastructures, and thoughtful system designs.
I code mostly in Go and TypeScript, which allow me to build fast, reliable software. For frontend projects, I often use Nuxt 3 and am currently exploring SvelteKit. I also have strong foundations in Java and object‑oriented programming.
When I’m not coding, you can find me exploring new movies, cooking, or simply vibing with video games.
Thanks for stopping by, and I hope you enjoy your visit!
My work
Software Engineer - Powerus
07-2025 - Now
As a Software Engineer at PowerUs — a fast‑growing Y Combinator–backed startup building the leading career platform for skilled trade professionals — I help develop and scale our full‑stack application. Partnering closely with product and design, I deliver user‑focused features that drive engagement and performance.
Beyond building for end users, I also focus on the developer experience by contributing to our internal guilds across frontend, backend, and our shared design system. There, I lead initiatives that improve code quality, maintainability, and team productivity.
In our lean, fast‑moving environment, I play an active role in shaping technical decisions, evolving best practices, and fostering a collaborative engineering culture as we scale our platform and impact.

- Customer Feedback (CRM): Managing customer feedback to improve satisfaction.
- Digital Catalogs and Administration: Managing product catalogs via a carousel and creating an administration tool to facilitate catalog creation.
- Geolocation: Optimizing the customer journey based on the user's location.
- Content Management: Implementing and maintaining a Headless CMS for efficient content management.
- Product Pages / Slots: Ensuring an ideal presentation of products for an optimal user experience.
We were from two to five people in the team, using agile and scrum methods to keep organized.
