About me

Hello and welcome!

I’m Colin Blokkeel, a software engineer captivated by crafting intuitive, user-first experiences and architecting robust back-end systems, scalable distributed infrastructures, and thoughtful system designs.

I code mostly in Go and TypeScript, which allow me to build fast, reliable software. For frontend projects, I often use Nuxt 3 and am currently exploring SvelteKit. I also have strong foundations in Java and object‑oriented programming.

When I’m not coding, you can find me exploring new movies, cooking, or simply vibing with video games.

Thanks for stopping by, and I hope you enjoy your visit!

My work

Software Engineer - Powerus

07-2025 - Now

Powerus is a Y Combinator backed startup building Germany's leading career platform for skilled trade professionals, think electricians, plumbers, mechanics, carpenters, and more. With over 200,000 registered workers, the platform matches candidates with permanent jobs based on their skills, location, and preferences, letting them apply with a single click.

I work in the Worker Squad, the team responsible for the entire B2C experience. The web and mobile platform that workers use to discover jobs, build their profiles, and manage applications. My day to day involves shipping features across the full stack. Angular on the frontend and NestJS on the backend, backed by MongoDB. Partnering closely with product and design to drive engagement and performance.

Beyond product work, I'm part of the Platform Guild, where I contribute to infrastructure and developer experience. Managing deployments with Kubernetes and Helm, working with AWS services, and keeping our systems reliable as we scale. I also take an active role in our internal guilds, leading initiatives that improve code quality, maintainability, and team productivity.

  • Geolocation: Optimizing the customer journey based on the user's location.
  • Content Management: Implementing and maintaining a Headless CMS for efficient content management.
  • Product Pages / Slots: Ensuring an ideal presentation of products for an optimal user experience.

We were from two to five people in the team, using agile and scrum methods to keep organized.
